Classic Glazed Ham

  • 1 (9-10 lbs) bone in fully cooked ham, butt or shank half
  • 1 can crushed pineapple
  • 1/2 c brown sugar
  • 2 tsp mustard
  1. Remove ham from refrigerator and bring to room temperature, about 30 minutes.
  2. Preheat the oven 325 degrees.
  3. Trim off any skin from the ham. You can then score fat and stud with 2 T cloves if desired.
  4. Put ham face down on a rack in a roasting pan and pour ¼ inch water into the bottom of the pan. Transfer to the oven and roast until a thermometer inserted into the thickest part of the ham registers 130 degrees, about 2 hours.
  5. Mix pineapple, brown sugar, and mustard with a bit of water to make the glaze.
  6. Increase oven temp to 425 degrees and pour glaze over the ham.
  7. Return the ham to the oven until the glaze is glossy and well browned.
