Fricassee Chicken (Serve with dumplings)
- Cover chicken with hot water.
- Add 2 level tsp. salt & 6 or 8 whole allspice.
- Simmer 2 hours
- Add onion, carrot & celery stalks.
- Cook for another hour.
Sour Cream Gravy
- ½ pint sour cream
- 5 T flour
- ½ tsp. salt
- ¼ tsp. cayenne pepper
- Add 1 c liquid from chicken and vegetables.
- In another pan cook 1 ½ c broth & can of mushrooms, combine with sour cream mixture.
- Cook over low heat to thicken.
