Nana’s Butter Cookies

  • 3 c flour
  • ¾ c sugar
  • 1 tsp. baking powder
  • 1 egg
  • ½ tsp. salt
  • 2 T milk
  • 1 c softened butter
  • 1 ½ tsp. vanilla extract
  1. Sift together flour, baking powder and salt; set aside.  
  2. Cream butter and gradually add sugar, stir in egg, milk and vanilla; blend in dry ingredients.  
  3. Divide dough into thirds and roll out each portion on a lightly floured surface; cut with cookie cutters.  
  4. Place cookies on an ungreased baking sheet and bake at 400 for 5-8 minutes or until golden.  
  5. Makes 4 dozen.
