Never Fail Bread Dumplings

  • 1 egg at room temp
  • 1 c milk
  • 1 T baking powder
  • 3 c flour
  • 1 ½ tsp. salt
  • 1 slice white bread; toasted & buttered & cut into cubes
  1. Beat egg and milk together.  
  2. Mix in remaining ingredients.  
  3. Divide into 2 oblong shapes.  
  4. Cook covered 30 minutes in boiling salted water.  (Do not uncover during cooking.)  
  5. Slice using a piece of thread, a knife will only smash it down.
